Facebook Robert Stermscheg stems from Maribor, Yugoslavia, and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1967. His father ensured he was exposed to many wonderful writers – Edgar Rice Burroughs, Alexandre Dumas, Karl May, Agatha Christie, just to name a few. He appreciated how they opened up a whole new world to our imaginations through their portrayal of life.
After having retired from a satisfying career with the Winnipeg Police Service in 2006, Robert had the opportunity to devote himself to a new career path – writing fiction; but fiction with a twist. Robert embarked on translating the works of a well-known European author, Karl May, from German into English. No easy feat.
It was while Robert was immersed in his translation series that he came up with the idea of collaborating with his father, a WWII veteran and prisoner of war, by writing his memoir. The result was a two year effort that culminated with the finished product, POW #74324. Robert presented the first copy to his father for his 90th birthday.
