Marlene Schellenberg

she / her

Marlene grew up in rural Manitoba and has lived in Winnipeg most of her adult life. She became a French Immersion school teacher in St. Boniface then left to develop the French Language Instruction Program at an International School in Mumbai for two years. Upon her return to Canada, she completed an M.Ed at Queen’s University in Kingston and serendipitously finished her career teaching English in the same school where Manitoba’s own Joan Thomas and the Guild’s President Sharon Hamilton taught. Hoping their success will rub off on her, Marlene began studying creative writing with Dave Williamson of “The Dave”, Marjorie Anderson, and Di Brandt. With encouragement from these literary greats, she is working on her first novel.
