Rosalie I Tennison

Rosalie I. Tennison has never forgotten her rural roots despite living most of her life in cities. As soon as she understood that those black marks on a page were put there by someone, she vowed to someday become a writer. After graduating from Carleton University in Ottawa, she had to find a job to pay off her student debt. She mined her early life and became an agricultural journalist back home in Manitoba working for rural weekly newspapers, a small town radio station, editing an agricultural trade magazine and, eventually, serving as the communications specialist for the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at the University of Manitoba. Returning to Ontario, she began a freelance writing career getting her name in a variety of agricultural publications. During a stint as a staff writer for The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto she wrote: “Jiminy! There are crickets at The Royal”, a news release that earned her a gold citation at the Canadian Farm Writers’ Federation annual awards banquet. While she loves meeting producers in the fields where they work, Rosalie enjoys returning to her warm Winnipeg condo to curl up with her cat and a good book.
