Creative writing increases self-esteem, improves mental wellness, and creates strong communities. Our Youth Program is an emotionally safe environment that supports individuality and empowerment.
Our goal is to present creative writing as an extracurricular activity youths can explore through consistent ongoing programming, in the same vein as dance, music, theatre, and other fine arts.

Youth News- February
Hello! Welcome to our new Youth News Segment. This is where you can find news regarding the Youth Program, youth events, and other services the Manitoba Writers’ Guild has to offer to young writers.
About Me
My name is Benjamin Paulic, and I will be writing the youth sections in the monthly newsletter. I’m currently helping promote the Guild’s services to young writers through social media and outreach. I love to write poetry and fiction about queer coming-of-age, the pursuit of connection, and ghosts.
About the Youth Program
The MWG’s Youth Program offers multiple classes and resources for young people, whether they’re already seasoned writers or if this is their first step towards writing. Run by Rebecca Cooke, the program includes classes on different elements of writing, led by either Rebecca or a guest speaker. Additionally, members can engage with monthly peer-review sessions where participants share their pieces and give feedback to others and a yearly anthology that is published with young writer’s pieces. The Youth Program is an excellent way for emerging writers to connect with one another and develop their craft.
Next month: In next month’s article, you can expect more information about Rebecca Cooke, her work in the Guild, and her plans for the Youth Program. Thank you for reading!
