MWG at the Fringe

MWG cub reporter barb janes‘ play Agency is in the Fringe. A playful, poignant exposé that turns what you know about adoption upside down. The 12-year-old Jazz uncovers a shocking secret about her adoption, ditches her mom in a counselling session and gets lost in the Agency. Teaming with Louisa (British Home Child) and Claire (60s scoop adoptee), can the three girls escape? Pursued by past trauma and unanswered questions, will they find a way out of the maze of child welfare? Or will do-gooder Dr. Thomas and their many Mothers find them before they find the door? But what if, just if, the adults are lost too?

With support from the Manitoba Association of Playwrights and the Manitoba Arts Council, Agency comes to life with a terrific cast, under the direction of Marsha Knight (theatre goers will remember Marsha as Lynne in RMTC’s The Comeback and as director of last year’s Fringe hit, Neechies).
